A Sunny 85 Degrees...

Today it is hot. It is 85 degrees. Some of us were thinking about Popsicles. Now everyone is thinking about Popsicles.

Many of us love Popsicles but not everyone in the class has had one. Some of us know how to make them with juice and a stick. Sometimes you can add yogurt to Popsicles when you make them yourself. A few of us think that Popsicles stay frozen in the freezer.

We tried to figure out how much we already know about Popsicles. First, we wrote down our ideas on our clipboards and shared our ideas. Next, we opened a yellow box from the freezer labeled "Popsicles" and every kindergartner took one. We noticed it said "Made with real juice" on the box. Some kids saw the pictures on the box and tried to figured out the "flavors" in our box of Popsicles. Red could be strawberry or cherry or raspberry. Orange was probably orange. Purple could be grape.

As we ate the Popsicles, Tr. Pam and Tr. Ann wrote down everything we observed. Here's what we said:

It's definitely grape 'cause it's dark.
It has bumps on it.
It's ice 'cause it's so cold.
I like the juice.
I don't like the flavor.
The cold part makes it so juicy.
It's very icy.
It's cold.
Mine tastes like orange.
Mine is grape.
Mine is purple.
Only when you bite it, it makes noise.
When you suck it too much, the top comes off.
My top fell off; I chewed it.
It's kind of cold when you suck on it.
It gets skinnier as you suck on it.
It makes your fingers all kinds of colors.
When you suck it after biting it, it gets smooth.
When you suck it too much, it makes a fizzy noise.
It tastes like fruit.
It's very annoying when it drips.
If you suck it too much, it comes off.
Mine is cherry.
It melts because of saliva.
If you take your bumpy tooth and scrape it against the Popsicle, it makes a cool mark.
There are jokes on the sticks.
It makes your hands sticky and gooey.
It comes in a wrapper!
It makes a crunchy sound.
It's icy.
There are words on the stick.
It tastes like raspberries.
It tastes like grapes.
There's something sour.
They're all kinds of colors.
When you suck on the stick, you can taste wood.
It smells like fruit.
It melts!
It's icy here, but wet here.
The top came off; I was looking and licking and it came off!
You can bite it.
You can suck it.
You can lick it.
It gets skinny as you lick it.
Thank you for buying these!
It's juicy, very very juicy.
And sweet!
It has water in it.
It makes the inside of my mouth cold.
I found a joke on the stick!
What does this say?
You have to eat the Popsicle to see the answer.
The stick is made of wood.
